Highest priced dressage foal AES Elite Auction 2017
Ferriamo (Ferdy) was born on 26th March 2017. He was the first foal bred for Volatis Stud out of the top broodmare Trenda, from the first crop of the Schockemohle stallion Feinrich.
A strong foal, with exceptional athleticism and cadence to his paces, Ferdy was selected for the AES Elite Auction. He was sold to a wonderful dressage home in East Anglia and we are so excited about his future.
The name Ferriamo is Italian for “we shod” – a reference to Ferdy’s illustrious ancestor Ferro (Ferro being Italian for iron)
Ferdy’s sire is the first season sensation Feinrich. The winner of his licensing in Redefin, Feinrich is a son of the late great sire Furst Heinrich (Farouche, Furstenbal, Furst Romancier). His damline is exceptional, as he is the three quarter brother to For Romance I & II and the 6yo champion mare Fasine.
Feinrich was chosen to add more elasticity and modern type to the fabulous frame and power that we know Trenda passes on, and the combination worked exactly as she hoped.
What makes Ferdy exceptional is the quality of his motherline. Trenda’s sire Mondriaan is a sire of Grand Prix horses, and descends from the sire line of Habicht, the international eventer and foundation sire.
Trenda’s dam is the Keur mare Glenda, a daughter of Ulft. Ulft was a successful competition horse, and besides the great Ferro, was also the sire of several other international dressage horses. Glenda is the only full sister of the legendary KWPN stallion Ferro.
