Volatis Azeri

2005 Dark Bay Tobiano KWPN x TB Colt to make 16.2hh By Goshka Ringo x Foxwood Polo

Azeri was born on 3rd May 2005 at 3am, after a long and difficult labour for maiden mare Foxwood Polo (Foxy). And 8 days later, after we had finally relaxed, we were struck with the worst tragedy imaginable to a breeder, we lost Foxy after a severe colic attack. In memory of his dam, the name Azeri was chosen as it translates as Fox in Basque.

After trying unsuccessfully to unite Azeri with a foster mare, he was adopted by Sacha's 4yo Hanoverian dressage star Wendel VS. The tragedy of losing Foxy has made Azeri all the more precious. Despite all of this Azeri is a very well adjusted little man, and under the guidance of his 'Uncle' Welly he is learning exactly what being a horse is all about, removing one of the worries of raising an orphan foal. They lived out with the broodmare herd all summer with a perfectly normal parent and foal relationship.

Azeri is very modern and refined, with a very pretty head and has inherited plenty of his dam's Thoroughbred quality. He looks destined for a career as an eventer or show jumper, but could also make a huge impact in the show ring with his presence and wonderfully light paces. His sire Goshka Ringo is already a succesful dressage competitor and carries some great Dutch bloodlines such as Ferro, Purioso and Samber. Ringo's first foal crops have been exceptional and include premium graded foals, county show winners, and winners at the Best of British Foal Show.

Azeri's dam Foxwood Polo was a beautifully bred Thoroughbred mare by the National Hunt sire Glacial Storm out of a Deep Run mare. This is fabulous Irish breeding and she got her size and scope from these illustrious ancestors. Foxy had a very promising jumping career that was sadly cut short by injury, and we hope that Azeri has inherited her spirit and athleticism.

Azeri has been sold to a fantastic new home in East Anglia and we wish Lucy every joy with her beautiful boy.
