Harmsworth Elfinesque – 2004 bay Trakehner mare by Tycoon – Elfennymphe (EH Consul x Magnet x Anteil)

Exquisite dual graded Trakehner from the fabulous Elfe mare family.

Elfinesque (Elf) was purchased specifically as a broodmare for Volatis Stud. Elf is a modern stamp, very elegant and feminine, with an outstanding walk and canter, strongly influenced by her Thoroughbred heritage. She was graded with the TBF in 2008 and graded with the BHHS in 2016. Elf carries some exceedingly valuable and interesting bloodlines.

For her first foal Elf was bred to the Elite Grand Prix stallion Latimer, and the resulting filly, Volatis Elfentime, is currently a broodmare with WD Appaloosas. We sadly lost her stunning Herzensdieb colt, Elfenczar to colic, but she then produced 4 very promising daughters by the eventing sire Weston Justice.  Volatis Elana has started her BE career and is rated by the rider Jancis Weal as the most talented she has sat on, and Weston Jemima is showing even more talent over fences and is now co-owned by JP Sheffield and competing successfully both BE and BD.

Volatis Rio Tari has been a huge winner in the show ring including Champion Riding Horse and winning her Sport Horse section at Derbyshire Festival, Supreme of Show at Ayr County and Sport Horse Champion and Cuddy placed at Royal Highland. Volatis Rothschild will be following his sister into the show ring before starting a career in dressage.

Elf is a daughter of the extravagant moving stallion Tycoon. Tycoon is a powerful and large framed stallion, who competed successfully in both show jumping and dressage in Germany. One of Elf’s attractions is the quality of Tycoon’s female offspring. He was the sire of the Champion Trakehner mare in Germany in 2000, and was the dam sire of both the Champion and Reserve Champion Stallion in 2004 (Le Rouge and C’Est Bon). He also has daughters successfully show jumping and eventing, including a winner at the Bundeschampionate, the now advanced mare Amazing Grace. In 2007 he produced the Champion of the TBF mare grading, Godington Umbria. His offspring have been performance test champions, BD Winter Champions, and in the 2011 German Breeding Indices, he was the number one improver of the canter.

His own sire was an international show jumper, and his damline has produced a number of Grade A jumpers and Champion stallions.

Elf’s damsire is the Elite stallion Consul, a hugely important influence in both the Trakehner and Hanoverian breeds and a family that appears prominently in the Volatis breeding program. Consul not only sired Olympic dressage contenders and many graded sons and daughters, but is also a very exciting name to see in the bottom half of a pedigree. He is the damsire of leading Hanoverian dressage stallion Don Frederico and Olympic dressage contender Bon Bonaparte.

Elf’s dam Elfennymphe took very strongly after her sire in appearance. She descends from the famous ‘Elfe’ family, that produced many premium mares and stallions such as Elitaer, Elfado, Erzsand, Eloquent and Elfenglanz. The Champion of the 2002 Stallion Grading, Elfengeist is a half brother to Elfennymphe. Elfengeist was noted at his grading as having unbelievable movement and an unsurpassed temperament. He is already producing stock winning at Grand Prix, including the very exciting mare Rosafina TSF who bred on similar lines to Elf, her dam being by Consul.

Elfennymphe is also the grand dam of KD Ehrentanz, a premium graded stallion in the US who is showing great aptitude for jumping.
