Volatis Cleio

2006 Bay Tobiano filly by Goshka Ringo x Fleetwater Caprice to mature approximately 16.0hh+

Cleio was born on 8th June, a few days early and so a wonderful surprise. She is strong, uphill and athletic, and wonderfully feminine. She is very laid back and friendly foal, very influenced by the Trakehner quality. She shows particuarly ground covering paces with a wonderfully loose active shoulder. The name Cleio comes from Greek Mythology, Cleio was one of the nine Muses, who inspired epic poetry and who's name actually means 'to celebrate'. A very appropriate name for our fourth and final foal of 2006.
Cleio is being retained by the stud and started her show career off in style by taking the Reserve Champion Part Bred Trakehner title at the Trakehner breed show and grading in September 2006. The judge commented on her excellent hind leg and modern type. In 2007 she has gone one better, winning her Part Bred Trakehner yearling class and taking the overall Championship, with the judge commenting on her harmony and fabulous movement. In 2008 Cleio had two outings, winning her CHAPS Youngstock class and Reserve Champion Coloured at the Rutland & District NCPA Show, and being awarded a First Premium and Top Scoring 2yo Dressage Horse at the East Midlands BEF Futurity Evaluations. The evaluators commended her excellent limbs and temperament, and freedom of movement.

Cleio is by the Dutch bred stallion Ringo. Having bred two fabulous colts from Ringo in 2005, we knew he would pass on great limbs, athletic paces and a superb temperament. Ringo carries exciting bloodlines such as the Olympic Grand Prix stallion Ferro, Purioso and Samber. He is proving to be a very exciting young sire with offspring having been exported around the globe and who are also winning at county level in both coloured and open sporthorse classes. His oldest crop are only 4 this year.
Her dam is the graded Trakehner mare Fleetwater Caprice, a daughter of another of our broodmares Cover Girl. This is a mare with exemplary breeding, her dam is a half sister to the top German stallion Connery, from the female line of Cornau. Cornau (Cover Girl's granddam) produced the elite stallion Consul, the Grand Prix mare Corna, who herself produced the stallion Checkpoint. Caprice's sire is the eventer stallion Achtermann who was graded in Germany by the Trakehner verband as a 3yo, before being imported and graded with the SHB and BWBS. From a small number of foals he produced the graded stallion Fleetwater Swift and a number of good young eventers.
Cleio is being retained by the stud as a future broodmare prospect. Not only is she a wonderful representative of this outstanding female line, but is herself very correct, athletic and possess that all important kind temperament.
