2000 Tobiano 1/4 Hessen 3/4 Thoroughbred Mare Standing 16.2hh
By Stanhopes Dueka X Sea Shilling
'DD' was purchased in 2004 from Goshka Stud in Shropshire. I went to view their stallion Goshka Ringo, and was shown DD as she had a Ringo foal at foot. I was blown away with the foal, but sadly he was a colt. However when i was told some time later that DD was up for sale I didn't hesitate to purchase her. DD is a big mare, with excellent conformation and a very loose and easy way of moving. I particuarly like the fact that she has so much Thoroughbred blood as despite having plenty of size and substance she is also a mare of great quality.
DD was bred back to Goshka Ringo for a 2005 foal, and the resulting colt Volatis Devlin, is already showing immense potential as a future top class competition prospect, and was awarded at First Premium at the BEF Futurity 2006. Her first foal, Bam Bam G, was graded by the BSPA in Spring 2007. DD herself was presented for Grading with the BSPA at the Northern Spring Grading in 2008. Not only did she grade with the excellent score of 80% but she was also overall Broodmare Spring Grading Champion.
DD was backed during 2006 with the aim being to take her eventing over the coming seasons. Unfortunatly she sustained an injury in the field and so has returned to the broodmare ranks. We took the opportunity to breed her to one of the most exciting young stallions in Germany, the black Don Frederico son Don Ricoss. The resulting foal - Delphi - fulfilled all our expectations and more, and has been sold to an exciting new home in Sussex. DD was then covered by another up and coming superstar, the Westphalen stallion Showmaker, a Show Star x Fidermark son. Showmaker wowed the audience at the 2008 PSHP stallion parade with not only his amazing movement but also his fabulous temperament. As winner of the 2007 National and International 5yo dressage horse classes at Hickstead, Showmaker is now on the Equine Pathway Scheme and has continued to gain amazing scores in competition in 2008. On June 11th DD presented us with her best foal to date, a tall, modern colt by Showmaker, named Volatis Defiant who has taken everyone's breath away.

More information on Dueka can be seen on the Stanhopes site www.stanhopestud.com under youngstock. Dueka's first son to be presented for grading in 2006 was successful. Her grandsire Stanhopes Diddicoy has been a very successful sire, producing a number of good eventers.
