Broadstone Dingle Dell

1991 Bay SHB Mare 16.3hh by Demonstrator x Gladness
'Dell' is a powerful, upstanding mare who combines a fantastic tempermanet, with a proven track record as both a competitor and a broodmare. Dell gained points with both the BSJA up to 1.20m and with BD at Medium level, and proved to be a genuine and scopey competitor who would have continued to progress had the decision not been made to breed her previous owner (Andrea)'s next dressage horse from her.
So Dell retired to stud sound in 2003 and produced two fabulous foals for Andrea by the top class Hanoverian sires DiMaggio and Rivallino. The Rivallino colt has been retained by Andrea. The DiMaggio filly, Decadence, has started her under saddle training with glowing reports from her new owners.
Dell is a big scopey mare with great depth and substance. She passes on her sensible and kind nature to her foals and fits in perfectly to Volatis Stud's policy of proving mares in competiton. We selected Goshka Ringo as the sire of Dell's 2006 foal as we felt he would add extra elasticity and suspension to her gaits and also produce a foal with the ability and bloodlines to be succesful in either dressage or show jumping. The resultant foal Volatis Dilemma really did live up to those expectations. She has a wonderful hind quarter and topline and huge suspension in her paces.
For 2007 we bred Dell to the young KWPN stallion Vincent II who stands at Millfield Stud. Vincent is a son of the Grand Prix stallion Elcaro who has one of the highest dressage breeding indices in Holland. Vincent is already winning SHB Sporthorse classes and is graded with AES and CHAPS. He was the CHAPS Champions Sporthorse in 2006. The resulting foal, Diva, has Dell's depth and power, but is also a little more refined and elegant, exactly the result we were hoping for. We expect Diva to have a very useful career ahead of her as a multi talented competition horse. Diva has made one appearance into the arena for us, taking the Top Dressage Foal award at the 19th July BEF Futurity, a fabulous achievment. She has since been sold to a showing home and has had a fabulous start to her showing career in both coloured and open sporthors classes.
Dell was not covered in 2007, but is now in foal to the German bred stallion Sempers Spirit for a 2009 foal. She will be presented for grading to the SHB in 2008.

Dell's sire Demonstrator is a Hanoverian Grand Prix dressage stallion who has consistently topped the dressage sire rankings in the UK and was shortlisted for the Olympics. He is a very well balanced horse with elastic movement and is known for passing his excellent temperament onto his offspring. He has also sired numerous show jumpers, eventers and show horses. Demonstrator is also a grandson of the great Pik Bube, another German sire reknowned for passing on exceptional movement. Demonstrator's sire line is responsible for superstars such as Diester and Dollar Girl.
Dell's dam Gladness, was a Royal International winning show horse owned and competed by the famous Broadstone stud, who not only bred Dell but produced her up to the age of 5. Gladness produced a number of succesful show jumpers for the stud. Her damsire is the HIS Thoroughbed stallion My Eagle.
